ECDL Essentials is a shortened and more affordable version of the traditional ECDL Award which covers four base or core modules: Computer Essentials, Online Essentials, Word Processing and Spreadsheets.
• Computer Essentials—Teaches essential concepts and skills about the use of devices, file creation and management, networks, and data security.
• Online Essentials—Covers the essentials for going online, including web browsing, effective search engine use, online communication and email.
• Word Processing—Covers creating, formatting and finishing small-sized word processing documents including letters and other everyday documents
• Spreadsheets—This module enables candidates to understand the concept of spreadsheets and to demonstrate the ability to use a spreadsheet application.
Other specific modules, covering presentations, publications etc, can be added once the base modules are complete. ECDL can also be used towards a QQI award.
